The members bring extensive experience to lead the TRC with strong contacts within the Tāmaki community and iwi, and business skills, with deep knowledge of urban development.

The team of staff at TRC will work in partnership with local residents and businesses, mana whenua, local and central government agencies, local service providers and the private sector to provide a platform for successful regeneration of Tāmaki. This will involve working with the right people and resources to plan, fund and deliver a programme of regeneration initiatives.

Created out of a community desire to build a better future, the Tāmaki regeneration area includes the Auckland suburbs of Glen Innes, Pt England and Panmure.

Our senior leadership team

John Holyoake, Chief Executive Officer

John Holyoake leads the strategic direction for the TRC team. John began his career with senior operations roles in the Community and Social Housing sector. He has worked at the leading edge of public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives, most recently delivering the country's first public private corrections development and the single largest PPP.

John has a strong track record providing strategic and programme leadership for businesses and working across the commercial and social sectors. His work has spanned to include working with local communities, government, agencies and large stakeholder groups to deliver coordinated solutions.  

Tiumalu Peter Fa'afiu, General Manager Corporate Affairs

Peter has a background in law, diplomacy, international trade, communications, management consultancy and stakeholder engagement. He was raised in Tāmaki and still has strong ties in the area. Peter's governance experience covers human rights, media, education and management consultancy.

Shelley Katae, General Manager Strategy and Operations

Shelley lead the financial and operational aspects of the business across the 2014-15 period but will move into the GM Strategy and Operations position going forward. She has held a number of general management and operations roles in businesses across New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. Shelley is currently a board member of Taupo Moana Ltd (Ngāti Tuwharetoa) and Te Waipuna Puawai Mercy Oasis Limited.

Sam Hansen, Chief Financial Officer

Sam leads the financial, risk and governance aspects of the business as well as development of long term financial strategy. He brings strong financial and property experience from his previous senior positions at Auckland Airport and New Zealand Steel.

Tracey Wadsworth, General Manager Assets and Development

Tracey is a property and finance professional with over 25 years' experience in valuation, corporate real estate, strategic property advisory, property development and infrastructure financing. 

Tracey has held senior positions within the Royal Bank of Scotland, CRI and Urban Growth. She has been responsible for the delivery of a series of strategic master plans and asset management strategies for several major institutions. She has also been a core member of the project teams delivering the commercial components of large Public Private Partnership infrastructure projects across Australia.

Neil Porteous, General Manager Housing

Neil initially worked in the construction industry in New Zealand and overseas prior to joining Vodafone NZ in 1998. He stayed for 10 years in a variety of roles, culminating in his appointment as Director of Human Resources. During this period, Neil also chaired the Vodafone New Zealand Foundation for six years which led to a desire to work in the not-for-profit sector.

He was CEO of the Child Cancer Foundation for two years prior to moving to the Elevator Group. His most recent position was as the Regional General Manager for St John's northern region operations. A strong proponent of diversity in the workplace, Neil is also a trustee of the Equal Employment Opportunities Trust.

Chair - Brian Donnelly

Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Panel on Housing Reforms, Executive Director of the New Zealand Housing Foundation and a member of the Housing Shareholders Advisory Group.

Deputy Chair - Dr Susan Macken

Susan has extensive governance and senior management experience in business including the Bank of New Zealand and Southern Cross Healthcare. 

Martin Udale

Martin has extensive experience in land and property development, most recently as CEO of McConnell Properties and has a leading understanding of development economics, urban planning and design.

Kerry Hitchcock

Kerry is the managing director of National Property Trust (NTP). He has a long history of experience in a variety of fields, including strategic planning, asset management and the development of commercial and residential property. 

Eru Lyndon

Northern Regional Commissioner for the Ministry of Social Development.  He has strong links with Ngati Whatua o Orakei where he was previously its Manager of Policy and Development and is a barrister and solicitor to the High Court.

Soana Pamaka

Principal of Tāmaki College and provides a strong link to the Tāmaki community in which she both lives and works. Active in a number of community initiatives.

John Sax

Appointed as the Crown’s sole discretionary director. Mr Sax is the founder of the Southpark Group of Companies, which has led the redevelopment of much of the former “smoke stack industries” within Auckland. He is the founder and Chairman of the For the Sake of Our Children Trust and works with numerous community and social action initiatives.
