Derna/Tobruk

In this neighbourhood approximately 100 state, affordable and private homes will be built in three stages. The Derna/Tobruk neighbourhood development will also be supported by a range of placemaking and regeneration initiatives including enhancing the existing parks and providing a new health and education hub.

Stage 1

Eight housing sites will be developed into 19 new homes, including seven state homes and two shared equity, affordable homes. Demolition of existing houses has been completed and construction is expected to begin in late 2018 with completion of all homes in 2020.

Stage 2

12 housing sites will be developed into approximately 44 new homes, including 13 state homes.

Stage 3

Nine housing sites will be developed into approximately 38 new homes, including 11 state homes.

Early years hub

A health and education hub at Tāmaki Primary School is currently in the planning phase. The services the hub delivers will be focussed on making sure children have the best possible start in life. It will provide early childhood education, family health and wellbeing services and include multi-use spaces that can be hired by the community.

Derna/Torbuk stage 1

Eight housing sites will be developed into approximately 19 new homes, including seven state homes and two shared equity, affordable homes. Demolition of existing houses has been completed and construction is expected to begin in late 2018 with completion of all homes in 2020.

The two and three-storey houses and apartments are built of robust, long-lasting building materials, including brick with cedar cladding.

Positioned to gain high levels of light and sun, the new homes are built away from boundaries with neighbouring homes to ensure maximum privacy for all Derna/Tobruk residents.
