Tāmaki’s 18,000 strong community encompasses Glen Innes, Panmure and Point England.
Tāmaki is a celebration of multicultural urban living with a mix of industry, communities, parklands and beaches rolled into one. It has a strong Pacific heart with some 47% of residents having Pacific origins and a further 23% Maori. New immigrants from Asia also make up a significant part of the community. We’re colourful, we’re ambitious and we’re young with 29% of us being under 25.
We also want our voices heard and a number of community-based organisations took part in our engagement sessions. Groups from marae, churches, schools, clubs, businesses and industry came together to tell us their needs and aspirations for the future of Tāmaki. Our community wants better educational opportunities for students of all ages; more job and career opportunities and local business development, and of course, a range of modern, healthy and affordable homes.
